Satellites Over Head

A visualisation of the satellites passing over London. This is to be displayed on a “cheap yellow display” (£10).

Loading element sets…

The display this is built for fetches fresh element sets every day. This page loads a snapshot committed alongside it, which slowly goes out of date: SGP4 drifts by one to three kilometres a day, so at 2.14 km per pixel the dots wander about half a pixel to one and a half per day — three to ten pixels after a week — until the snapshot is replaced.

Orbital elements from CelesTrak, propagated in the browser with SGP4 via satellite.js. Coastlines from Natural Earth, simplified to 1.5 km. Positions are where a satellite is, not whether it can be seen.
